I love Linux!

Lets talk about it

Now you may be thinking, Linux is for Nerds! Well this blog will go over a few things I know, and that someone interested in Linux should know before they get started!

Distributions

When it comes to Linux there are different "types" or operating systems that use linux also known as distributions. There are easier distributions meant for people who aren't very tech savvy, or people who want a taste of Linux without diving into it.

Different distributions of Linux are usually intended for different way of using your computer. For example there are distributions like Ubuntu, Mint, or Fedora that seek to emulate a traditional desktop environment, or distributions that seek to be as lightweight on system resources and customizable as possible which are usually best for home server use like Arch Linux or Gentoo. There are even some distributions built specifically for the purpose of gaming such as Garuda Linux or SteamOS

If you want to get some experience with Linux or get a basic experience with GNU/Linux then I highly recommend trying Linux Mint, or Fedora Linux if you want a little more configuring.

My experience with Linux

I personally have daily drived only two linux operating systems. First Linux Mint, and secondly Arch Linux. My goal is to get Gentoo linux working on my T440 Thinkpad and switching my main desktop from Linux Mint to Arch Linux. My first experience with Linux was in the tech privacy part of the internet.
